Function
To develop a national network capable of conducting high quality clinical trials that address gaps that are not funded by the pharmaceutical industry. The Network will develop core expertise in applying for external funding from charities and research councils in order to fund such trials.
We aim to
-
Develop proposals for external funding for clinical trials identified as priorities by the Network membership and Steering Group.
-
Develop an infrastructure with the NHS for ensuring that such trials are conducted to a high standard of data management and clinical research governance.
-
To develop educational and training opportunities for those interested in learning about the conduct and interpretation of clinical trials.
Meetings
Executive and Steering Group Committee meetings are held twice a year, with the AGM held at the Annual British Association of Dermatologists Meeting. The main purpose of the regular meetings is to discuss clinical trial proposals, and to prioritise them for pump-priming funding for pilot work.
Membership
Full membership of the UK Dermatology Clinical Trials Network is free and is open to dermatologists (training and associate specialists and consultants) in the United Kingdom, as well as dermatological nurses, non-clinical health services researchers such as statisticians and health economists, and also consumer representatives, i.e.. people with a skin condition, or who would belong to a patient support group.
