British Society for Medical Dermatology

At the 4th annual Medical Dermatology Meeting in 2008, the need for the creation of a specialty group with an interest in the integration of dermatology with general medicine, and the promotion of the role of the dermatologist in hospital medicine was debated. Finding a body of support for the idea, we set about the creation of such a group. Now the BSMD has a healthy membership, an agreed constitution outlining the aims and objectives, an elected committee and we have been approved by the BAD as an affiliated special interest group. New members are welcome. As well as contributing to the BAD/RCP Medical dermatology day and the Medical Dermatology session at the BAD annual meeting, we run a bi-annual DermDoc course for Junior doctors and an annual Essential Medical Dermatology Course for Dermatology Trainees.
