BAD DERMATOLOGY CESR WORKSHOPS
Under the Education Board, the BAD organises the CESR workshop to help delegates gain an understanding of the process of application for the Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) and how to prepare a successful application.
The workshop looks specifically at collecting evidence to demonstrate the equivalent knowledge and experience in dermatology, as set out in the dermatology curriculum in order to achieve Specialist Registration. The workshop also looks at ways shortfalls in experience can be addressed, whilst working as busy dermatology clinicians.
The first Dermatology specific CESR workshop was organised by Dr Cathy Christie (former BAD SAS committee member and CESR Lead) and took place on Wednesday 12th November 2014. It was the first of its kind and proved to be very popular with places filling rapidly and a considerable waiting list. Since then, a few more workshops have been run taking into account the constructive comments and suggestions made by the delegates on the feedback provided.
The day consists of a morning run by the GMC Advisors, who run small group practical sessions, demystifying and dissecting the application process. This is invaluable as the CESR process is complex and onerous so is highly recommended. In the afternoon we focus more specifically on Dermatology and have various expert speakers, some of who have been successful in this process.
The next Dermatology BAD CESR workshop will be taking place in the Autumn 2021 (date to be agreed). If you would like to book a space please email the CESR administrator at Monica@bad.org.uk.
