Education Board

The Education Board exists to develop accredited, quality-assured training frameworks for the dermatology workforce, excluding specialty training (NTN/CCT training) which remains the remit of the Dermatology SAC under the Royal College of Physicians. Our vision of developing the dermatology workforce to improve patient access to high-quality dermatology care in the face of a workforce crisis is aligned with The King's Fund report on Dermatology Services.

The Education Board works in a collaborative fashion with a number of existing and developing educational groups utilising a "hub and spoke" model. The hub exists to coordinate, standardise and quality-assure the vast range of dermatology training to various learner groups and to eliminate duplication of work. The spoke groups are working parties which are numerous and varied, and feed into the hub depending on the level of educational activity; the hub, in turn, can provide support as required. Some examples of such groups include:

  • SAS and CESR Workstream
  • Undergraduate Dermatology workstream
  • Vulval Disease Dermatology Education
  • Paediatric dermatology education
  • SCE support for non NTN/CCT trainees
  • Physican Associate dermatology education
  • Nursing dermatology education
  • Plastic Surgery/skin cancer fellowship workstream
  • Patient Engagement workstream
  • Digital Innovations workstream including e-learning for health
  • Global Dermatology workstream
  • Pharmacy workstream
  • Advanced Clinical Practitioner workstream
