The main aim of the GIRFT dermatology report is to identify and address inequalities that people with skin disease experience when they access dermatology care.
Key themes to improve services to patients are:
1. Address the medical workforce shortage in dermatology so that people can promptly see (or receive virtual advice) from someone who can help them;
2. develop nursing, pharmacy and other staff to improve dermatology services and;
3. encourage appropriate adoption of technology where this can be shown to improve services.
However, there is much detail and many detailed recommendations that may be helpful to departments wishing to develop the services they offer to people with skin disease.
The GIRFT report can be found here and on the NHS Futures Platform.
