International Dermatology Education Alliance (IDEA)
Expanding access to high-quality dermatology education globally
Medical education has become a well-established field of international research, with advancements in evidence-based methodology. The role of education in developing a high-quality healthcare workforce is undeniable.
Despite this, the field of dermatology lacks a dedicated network of experts in pedagogy—the science of learning—to support clinicians in becoming the most effective teachers they can be. Recognizing this need, Professors Mini Singh and Kanade Shinkai founded IDEA to bridge this gap.
IDEA is a global initiative with representation from dermatologists passionate about education, teaching, and learning from nearly all continents. Our aim is to promote faculty development in dermatology education, encourage evidence-based teaching practices, and foster the growth of future educational leaders in dermatology. We also work closely with dermatology societies worldwide to support and enhance their educational initiatives.
To ensure dermatology education is underpinned by evidenced-based pedagogic principles and develop dermatology professionals who are innovative leaders in the field of healthcare education.
