Skin Genetics Group

The Skin Genetics group is a UK-wide network linking clinical dermatologists with a specialist interest in genetic skin disorders (also known as genodermatoses). The group is focussed upon championing education, research, treatment development and awareness of genetic skin disease.  A long-term aim of the group is to advance genomic literacy in dermatology.

The group was initially jointly established by the BAD and the Centre for Dermatology and Genetic Medicine (DGEM), at the University of Dundee, to form BADGEM in 2013, which was supported by funding from the Wellcome Trust. The group is now supported and part of the BAD, and functions as a sub-committee of the Research sub-committee. Rebranded as the Skin Genetics Group, it is currently chaired by Professor Neil Rajan, supported by a sub-committee comprising national experts in genetic skin disease in active practice in the UK.
