The BSID is an independent non-profit organisation formed in 1988, and is a registered charity. The purpose of the Society is to promote high quality scientific research in dermatology, skin biology, and related subjects. This is achieved principally through its annual meeting, which comprises oral and poster presentations of original research, guest lectures, and educational symposia and promotes interactions between scientists and clinicians.
The Society is particularly keen to encourage the involvement of young scientists and clinicians in dermatological research. An important role of the Society is educating trainees in dermatology and scientific workers in the field of dermatology and skin biology. The Society also facilitates the exchange of ideas and dissemination of information on all aspects of skin biology and skin disease.
New for 2025, a new tiered membership structure has been introduced for both new applications and renewals. New members should use the guide below to choose which membership category they sit in according to their role. Current members have been assigned to categories.
After clicking the ‘apply’ button below, if you do not have one yet, you will be required to create an account with the BAD. Please note that creating an account with us is not becoming a BAD member and BAD membership is not required to join the BSID. If you have any problems during the application process, please email membership@bad.org.uk.
