Patient Safety and Quality
All doctors must comply with the General Medical Council’s (GMC) Good Medical Practice and follow BAD, NICE and MHRA guidance as relevant to the patients care.
Consent
All doctors must follow the GMC’s Decision making and consent guidance, including for cosmetic interventions. Medical professionals who are undertaking interventions are responsible for providing information to patients on procedures and for obtaining consent.
Prescribing and Medicines Management
The GMC standards of good practice apply to all doctors working in all settings. This includes ‘Reporting adverse drug reactions, medical device incidents and other patient safety incidents’ to reference the latest arrangements and terminology for reporting adverse incidents and near misses across the UK.

Good Governance
Under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 Regulation 17 Independent Providers must have effective governance, including assurance and auditing systems or processes. These must assess, monitor and drive improvement in the quality and safety of the services provided, including the quality of the experience for people using the service. The systems and processes must also assess, monitor and mitigate any risks relating the health, safety and welfare of people using services and others. Providers must continually evaluate and seek to improve their governance and auditing practice.
