This new course, organised by the British Society of Medical Dermatology, is suitable for dermatology trainees and others who wish to refresh their knowledge of medical dermatology. The first day is dedicated mainly to severe inflammatory skin diseases and the second to the cutaneous manifestations of systemic diseases. The programme includes short presentations by experts in the field, discussions and case-based workshops. You will be able to “Test the Faculty” with your own challenging cases and to evaluate your learning through pre- and post-course quizzes.
After attending the course, you should be able to:
1 Manage patients with skin conditions that have substantial systemic consequences
2 Quantify the impact and extent of inflammatory skin diseases
3 Use systemic drugs safely in patients with severe skin diseases

The BSSVD Annual conference will take place over 28-29 March 2012 in Newcastle. The meeting has a good programme with excellent speakers on a range of subjects as well as the popular Ask the Expert session. The BSSVD will encourage abstracts from juniors and have a poster exhibition.
The Conference will be held at the Civic Centre which is handy for the shopping centre and dinner will be held at the iconic Sage building on the quayside.
