NHS Evidence Accreditation
The British Association of Dermatologists' 2009 recommended process manual for the development of clinical guidelines was recently accredited by NHS Evidence. The accreditation recognises the stringent protocol that the BAD now employs in producing clinical guidelines.

The accreditation will be valid for 3 years (until May 2013) and retrospectively covers guidelines that were accepted for publication from September 2008.

The accreditation also means that future BAD guidelines would not only need to follow the accredited process manual strictly, but also fulfill most of the 25 criteria set by NHS Evidence in order to maintain the BAD's status as an accredited guidance producer (please click here for the NHS Evidence guidelines checklist).

Further information on the BAD's accreditation decision can be found on the NHS Evidence portal.
