>> Does latex allergy go away?

At present, there is no cure for latex allergy.

However, it will almost certainly improve with time by:

avoiding natural rubber latex (NRL) products
and
seeking out synthetic substitutes

Most people with latex allergy can live normal lives by avoiding the more obvious sources of NRL exposure at home, at work, and in medical / dental situations (see 'What is latex in?').

Many people who are very sensitive (i.e. those who have severe symptoms) at the time of diagnosis do find that by adopting these measures their symptoms reduce considerably with time, i.e. they become less sensitive. The majority of people who have latex allergy and have workplace exposure to NRL can continue in their employment without the need for a change in occupation (1), (2).

A few people with latex allergy have to change occupation and / or continue to have troublesome reactions because they are so sensitive to NRL, but this is unusual.
