>> What sort of dressings should I use?

If you need to apply dressings to your perineum, gauze pads or sanitary pads can work well. Tape can irritate the area so it is best to just tuck them into underwear. If you can’t wear underwear, you can hold a sanitary pad in place using a roll of gauze wrapped once around the waist, then over the pad, like a thong.

If you need to apply dressings to your underarm area, again gauze is a good option or even breast pads. For women, it might be easiest to slip it in the edge of your bra to hold it in place. If not, again, a roll of gauze wrapped over the armpit and then round the neck stops it from slipping down.

Make sure you don’t use anything that will stick to your wounds.
