Online Journals

Medline literature searching on the Internet

Powerful, fast automated searching of vast sources of the medical literature, providing references and full abstracts.

Medline literature searching is available online and free-of-charge from the National Library of Medicine in the USA.

CliniWeb is not a medical literature database. It is a tool for searching for medical information published on the Internet.

Many Universities provide such online searching facilities within the organisation.

  • The UK Key Advances in Clinical Practice Series website
    This organisation arranges symposia and publishes books covering the interpretation of published and unpublished clinical research in various medical fields, including oncology and infectious disease and also in the area of NHS policy and public health medicine.

  • International Skin Care Nursing Group (ISNG)
    Through it's activities it aims to raise the profile of skin health and the contribution that nurses can make in this area of health care. Broadly speaking the groups objectives relate to marshalling and co-ordinating the existing skills and resources in skin care nursing and making these available to all.

  • The James Lind Alliance
    The James Lind Alliance aims to identify the most important gaps in knowledge about the effects of treatments, and has been established to bring patients and clinicians together in 'Working Partnerships' to identify and prioritise the unanswered questions that they agree are most important. This information will help ensure that those who fund health research are aware of what matters to patients and clinicians.

The Department of Dermatology, University of Wales College of Medicine has dermatological information related to the activities of the department, including research information.  Botanical Dermatology Database (an electronic reincarnation of Mitchell and Rook's Botanical Dermatology), publications, courses, forthcoming meetings, worldwide links and an online order form for information sheets about a large number of contact allergens.'

Exeter Guidelines for GPs: Dr Andrew Warin has published these straightforward advice notes for local GPs for some years. Now they are available on the local PCG Website. There are also some patient advice sheets which are printable.'

The Skin Therapy Letter is one of the few print publications that is indexed by the National Library of Medicine, and MEDLINE.  The publication is written for Dermatologists, is in its 8th year of publication, and is distributed internationally.  It is unbiased, evidence based, original scientific editorial authored by world-renowned opinion leaders from centres of excellence in the field of dermatology.

Dermatological History

The French Society for Dermatological History has a site with photographs from the from the dermatological museum of the Hopital Saint-Louis in Paris. It now has an version in English.

Clinical & Experimental Dermatology

Family Doctor Publications, published in association with the BMA, are a series of over 40 books on health topics of frequent concern.  The books contain helpful, concise and up to date health information written by eminent specialists in the particular therapeutic area.

Bandolier is an Oxofrd-based hard copy journal and website all about evidence-based thinking about healthcare and medicine.
