Applications for International Editorial Trainees for the British Journal of Dermatology
Three exciting new posts have arisen for young dermatologists to join the BJD as International editorial trainees, each for a two year post. The role has been refined with feedback from BJD Editorial Trainees based in the UK, to maximise educational and career value.
This will be a chance to gain inside information on how publishing works and to obtain formal training in the publication process and evidence-based dermatology. International Editorial Trainees will contribute to the BJD social media presence, undertake reviews of Image Gallery submissions and join our Journal Club team. In the second year of their post they will progress to Associate Editor of the BJD Image Gallery, Journal Club, or our FigureOne initiative which provides an on-line platform for case reports. Publication ethics training will be provided, as well as training in evidence-based dermatology.
The two year post is a training, not paid post, but with a stipend of £2,000 GBP per year to cover travel, training costs and courses. Applications are limited to non-UK dermatology trainees who are within two years of independent practice. Trainees based in North America, China and Continental Europe are particularly encouraged, however exceptional applicants based in any non-UK country are welcomed.
The appointment process requires a letter of application with a copy of the applicant’s CV, and letters of support from their educational supervisor and training programme director. Additionally, the application must include a 500 word essay explaining why the candidate has applied and what they hope to gain from the experience.The deadline for applications is 11th January 2019 and a decision on who has been successful will take place within two weeks of the deadline, permitting a start date of 4th February 2019.
