Undergraduate Awards

BAD Undergraduate Essay Prize: £500 and 3 x £250
2008 title - 'What's the fuss about skin disease - it rarely kills?!' The BAD annually sets an essay title on a topic related to dermatology and offers prizes of £500 for the winning essay and three runners-up prizes of £250 each. The essay should be @ 3,000 words long. Please click here for an appication form and the conditions. NB - The use of fancy typefaces, high quality paper, professional binding, colour pictures/graphics etc etc, will not improve your chances of winning a prize!
BSDS Undergraduate Essay Prize: £200
2008 title - 'The impact of climate change on skin cancer' The deadline is 31st July 2008 The British Society for Dermatological Surgery offers an essay prize of £200. Please visit http://www.bsds.org.uk/ for further information.
BAD Undergraduate Dermatology Elective/Project Grants: 9 x £500
Up to 9 grants of £500 each are available, to undergraduate medical students at UK universities, who will be undertaking an elective in an overseas dermatology department or carrying out a research project related to dermatology or skin biology. Applications must be made before the start of the elective/project period. For an application form please click here
BAD Intercalated Degree Grant: £5,000
A grant of £5,000 is available to assist an undergraduate medical student with an intercalated degree which includes a project that is relevant to dermatology and/or skin biology. As the fellowship is awarded in the middle of an academic year, applications will be accepted for projects ongoing through that academic year or for projects to be carried out in the next academic year. Applications for projects due to start further ahead or for projects carried out in the previous academic year will not be accepted. For an application form please click here
The above awards are available each spring and applications should be submitted to BAD by 20th March.
