NIHR/BAD Travel & Research Taster / Visit Bursaries

National Institute for Health Research Senior Investigators Professor Chris Griffiths and Professor Hywel Williams and the British Association of Dermatologists are inviting applications to promote interest in developing careers in UK dermatology research.
 
The following prestigious awards are offered on an annual basis.

Travel Bursary
 
To attend a key dermatology scientific meeting such as the AAD, BSID or ESDR. Up to £500 will be available for each award and up to four awards will be available for 2017. The awards are best suited for a researcher (clinical or non-clinical) at a relatively early stage of their career who wishes to present their work at a scientific meeting. Applicants should be resident in the UK and working in a recognised clinical or non-clinical training environment.
 
Your application should demonstrate the original research that you wish to present at the conference.  If you are presenting a case study, an audit or a retrospective review of several case-notes please submit your application to the Joint BAD and Dowling Club BAD/DC Travel Fellowships

2. A cover letter explaining what meeting you wish to attend, what you plan to present and how attending the meeting will benefit you.
3. An estimate of associated costs (up to £500 maximum)
4. Your submitted abstract (in draft or final form)
5. A letter of support from your research supervisor
6. Your CV
 
Research Taster / Visit Bursary
 
For a research taster/visit bursary to enable someone who is thinking about doing translational dermatology research or somebody at a relatively early stage of their research career to visit a research department to get a taste of research in that department or to initiate further research collaborations. The location of the research centre need not be limited to the UK, and the type of research can range from basic science to health services research. Up to £500 will be available for each award and up to four awards will be available for 2017. Applicants should be resident in the UK and working in a recognised clinical or non-clinical training environment.
