Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)

The British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) invited a range of professionals and patient representatives to form a multidisciplinary Working Party Group (WPG). The remit of this WPG was to provide a multi-professional consensus on measurable standards for PDT service provision in the UK. The members were selected from around the UK and from a variety of units for their expertise in PDT, as well as from a range of specialties that are important for supporting a PDT service.

Our approach to the development of current and pending service guidance is based on the core principles and methods guide set out by NICE for developing service guidance to meet its accreditation requirements.

Ahead of publication, the BAD must demonstrate that the WPG has complied with its own processes via the formal undertaking of a public stakeholder consultation. The BAD will respond accordingly to the feedback received before publication of our service guidance.

Therefore, we are seeking registration and feedback from interested stakeholder organisations, BAD membership and patient representatives on our PDT Service Guidance and Standards.

In order to meet our process and NICE requirements for consultation we gratefully ask that all interested parties respond by 5pm on Tuesday the 11th of December, using the BAD stakeholder proforma.

Submission responses should be emailed to the attention of: Paul Callaghan at or posted to the British Association of Dermatologists, Clinical Services Unit, Willan House, 4 Fitzroy Square, London, W1T 5HQ.

Please note: we are unable to accept responses from stakeholders outside of the provided proforma or after the advised date and time.
