Meetings
The BCDS holds an annual meeting alongside the main BAD meeting, a two-yearly update day, a two-yearly scientific meeting, and contact dermatitis courses run by the Universities of Birmingham and Nottingham . The BCDS website allows access to the BCDS database, BCDS allergen series, and occasional newsletters.
Function
The aims of the BCDS are the promotion of knowledge about the diagnosis and treatment of contact dermatitis. The society has a current membership of 154 dermatologists and dermatological nurses. Recently, the BCDS committee has focussed on developing the databases, standardising allergen test series, writing patient advice sheets and trialling ‘new’ allergens. Additionally, we are considering methods to assess competencies in patch testing.
The database, in Microsoft Access, is available to BAD BCDS members through the BAD BCDS website. It has been designed for dermatologists who may not have a particular interest in contact dermatitis but who provide a standard patch testing service. It is simple to use and will allow easy audit of patch test results.
