All BAD and Dowling Club awards are awarded by one committee after the Wineter, Summer and Autumn closing dates to ensure that the distribution of funds is as fair as possible.

Joint NIHR/BAD research taster and travel bursaries
The NIHR and the BAD also offer Research TasterVisit Bursaries (6 x £500) and Travel Bursaries (6 x £500). The applicants do not have to be BAD members in order to apply. BAD Undergraduate Essay Prize: £500 and 3 x £250
Deadline: 20 January each year
2012 title is: "Do sunscreens really protect us?"
The BAD annually sets an essay title on a topic related to dermatology and offers prizes of £500 for the winning essay and three runners-up prizes of £250 each. The essay should be no more than 2,500 words long. As the essays are not marked anonymously please put your name on it. Please click here for an application form and the conditions. The prize is open to any undergraduate medical student studying at a university in the UK or Ireland.
NB - The use of fancy typefaces, high quality paper, professional binding, colour, pictures/graphics etc, will not improve your chances of winning a prize!
BAD Undergraduate Dermatology Project/Elective Grants: 9 x £500
Deadline: 20 January 2011 (2 awards) and 20 May 2011 (7 awards)
Up to 9 grants of £500 each are available, to undergraduate medical students at UK or Irish universities, who will be undertaking a research project related to dermatology or skin biology or an elective in the UK or an overseas dermatology department. BAD Intercalated Degree Grant: 2 x £3,000
Deadline: 20 May 2011
Two grants of £3,000 are available to assist an UK or Irish undergraduate medical student with an intercalated degree which includes a project that is relevant to dermatology and/or skin biology. As the fellowship is awarded in the middle of an academic year, applications will be accepted for projects ongoing through that academic year or for projects to be carried out in the next academic year.
